Volnay Caillerets, Domaine Y. Clerget 2018

The 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets reveals scents of cassis, plums, dark chocolate and spices framed by a generous application of toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and tightly wound, with tangy acids and an abundance of chalky tannin underpinned its deep core of fruit, this is unusually structured this year and will require patience. Drink Date: 2028 - 2045

Planted 1938, vines which never give more than 20 hl/ha, all destemmed, because the limestone gives the finesse needed. Brilliant nose here in its fully infused style. Magical fruit at the front of the palate that then continues all the way through to a sublime finish. Worthy of the fame of the vineyard!
