Tasting notes

Neal Martin, RobertParker.com, March 2012 94/96

This has wonderful clarity and vigour from the nose that soars from the glass. Blackberry, redcurrant and a touch of briary. The palate is very well defined with great mineralite. There is a wonderful gush of succulent red fruit towards the back of the mouth that just lacquer the senses. Very well integrated oak and very harmonious, I think that this is the finestbest Clos de la Marechale I have tasted since Monsieur Mugnier was returned the keys.

Allen Meadows, Burghound.com (49), January 2013 91

True to the Mugnier style, this is also wonderfully pure with its expressive nose of earthy red pinot fruit that also exhibits notes of underbrush and a mineral component that is picked up by the vibrant and well-delineated middle weight flavors. The mid-palate is relatively refined and the Nuits origins don't really show up until the firm and mouth coating finish and even then it's more in the way of muscle than rusticity. Lovely.
