Gevrey Chambertin Combe Aux Moines, Domaine Fourrier 2010

**Note: from .87 ha parcel planted in 1928**A slightly riper though still extremely fresh nose features notes of plum and dark berry fruit liqueur aromas that complement the equally ripe and velvety full-bodied flavors that brim with both minerality and plenty of dry extract that coats the mouth. Despite the seductive texture the overall impression is that this understated effort is both very serious and notably austere, indeed this is a classic Combe aux Moines that is built to age. In a word, superb.

There is a little more reserve on the nose of the La Combe Aux Moins compared to the Cherbaudes (although that might be due to the SO2.) The palate is very structured with firm, grippy tannins, a more sinewy Gevrey with great density on the finish. Very fine, a Gevrey of dimension and power. Tasted January 2012.
