Echezeaux du Dessus Cuvee 1949, Jean-Marc Millot 2017

An attractively fresh and ultra-floral-inflected nose offers up notes of red and dark currant, sandal wood, exotic tea and a lovely array of spice elements. The old vines are manifest as the big-bodied and patently powerful flavors deliver outstanding depth and persistence on the still quite firmly structured finale. While there is some maturity in evidence, it's also clear that this is still very much on the way up and, for my taste at least, another 5 to 7 years of keeping should see this beauty at its best.
